Our signature class, Open Barre is a fusion of ballet fundamentals, core conditioning, Yoga and stretching for a total body workout using lightly weighted yoga balls, stretching strap, ballet barre, playground ball, and yoga mat to achieve a lean, flexible, youthful body. Open Barre is just that, open, to beginners and all levels of practice.
Local Barre classes are a cool mix of the most efficient practices of classic workouts infused with hip music certain to have you dancing the jive. Local Barre fitness is firing on all six cylinders.
Our cardio classes are designed for the barre lover to focus on their cardiovascular conditioning. We encourage our clients to attend a cardio class at least once a week.
I LOVE BARRE
Get your heart rate up as you flow from one section of Barre exercises to the next at an increased pace. This is an open level class with opportunity to progress weekly. Get ready to be challenged at the barre in a whole new way!
SPORTS BARRE
There may not be TVs in every corner of the room, but believe us.. you won't need them to get your inner athlete inspired. A mixture of barre exercises, yoga, martial arts and core strengthening techniques, be prepared for a challenging amount of plank runs, lunges, kicks and pulses.. WITH weights. Grab your favorite beat up tee shirt and try out our newest, sweatiest class yet - where the socks are optional but the energy is not. Please bring your own yoga mat.
DANCE NYC
An intense dance class intended for all levels. MTV, Broadway, Latin styles fused together for a very high cardio fitness dance class that will leave you exhilarated and drenched. Quickly master choreography, style, jumps, turns and performance while getting a workout that promises to leave you begging for more. Tootsie's NYC Dance class is taught throughout the country and abroad.. and now for the first time in Hoboken. Take your bopping-in-the-car-with-music-blaring-moves and give them shape in the dance studio with this class. Expect an exciting challenge and reap incredible physical and emotional rewards after each class—become a dancer. Sneakers are required.
Mixers are just that - a way to mix up your work out. Keep your eye on our schedule for pop-up classes that focus on hitting targeted muscle groups such as abs (Dancer's Abs) or legs (Kick Line). Have an idea for a mixer? Our Barretenders love taking requests!
Bring Your Own Baby! Bring your babe and their seat of choice (i.e. car seat bucket) to our Open Barre: BYOBaby Optional classes, set them down next to you and get your work out in! Sorry, children who are walking are not permitted. Reservations
Appointments are recommended for classes and can be made online or by phone, and we will do our best to accommodate walk-ins. To secure your appointment, a credit card number is required at the time of booking. For online reservations, you must have enough classes in your portfolio for booking. Local Barre accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express. No personal checks, please. State sales tax will be charged where applicable.
Arrival
First time guests are requested to arrive ten minutes before class so the instructor can introduce themselves, welcome you to Local Barre, and address any injuries, limitations, and questions. For safety reasons, beginners are strongly discouraged from joining a class once the instructor has begun. For the safety and satisfaction of all Local Barre guests, late entry will not be permitted to anyone beyond the initial five minutes of any class.
Cancellations
We request that you notify us of cancellations 4 hours prior to your class reservation. 24 hours is required for personal training sessions and special events. Reservations for classes before 10:00am must be cancelled at least 12 hours prior to the beginning of class. Early cancellations are credited to your Local Barre account for use towards future reservations. Purchases will not be refunded to your credit card. Late cancellations or no-shows will be billed to the credit card on file at the single class rate. Sorry, no exceptions.
Attire
To ensure proper alignment, it is suggested that guests wear formfitting clothing for Open Barre classes. For Open Barre classes, socks or in-studio footwear are required and may be purchased in the retail boutique.
Personal Effects
Local Barre offers fully outfitted bathrooms and private lockers for your convenience. As we cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items, we discourage you from bringing valuables. Kindly respect and enjoy the tranquility of Local Barre by silencing your ringer upon entry and keeping mobile phone usage to a minimum. Mobile phone use is prohibited in any area with the exception of the boutique.
Ballet
Strict alignment and movements to elongate the body and improve posture.
Strength Training
Body weight and light hand barbell techniques. to tone and sculpt muscles and increase daily caloric burn.
Core
A more intense workout to promote the growth of muscle tissue which burns calories at a faster rate than fatty tissue.
Pilates
Awareness of breath and alignment of the spine to build core strength and relieve tension in the upper neck and shoulders.
Yoga
Sense of peace, relaxation and mind body connection
Physical Therapy
Science and discipline of increasing flexibility of muscles and building bone density to maintain youth and avoid injury.
